THE SPORTS DOME UPDATE

(As of November 26, 2016)

The Dome Management group is awaiting a report from the Farley Group who have reviewed the damage to the Sports Dome. They will let us know by the middle of December as to their decision on the next step.

We will make further decisions about House League once we know the status of the Sports Dome.

A schedule for the Rep training is being developed and we will release it this week. Thanks for your patience during this stressful time.

Clothing Assistance Undercover Project

An Annual Tradition Continues

Lakehead Express Soccer Club is once again supporting the Clothing Assistance Mission’s Undercover Project this Christmas with a donation of new socks and underwear! The Club’s goal this year is to collect 2000 pieces for the project.

The Clothing Assistance Mission provides an invaluable service to citizens in Thunder Bay, making sure that no matter the income, everyone has clothing that is affordable. The clientele that the CAM serves ranges from the homeless to those who are struggling. With Christmas fast approaching, one of the CMA's projects is the Undercover Program. In the Christmas Cheer hampers that families receive, there are coupons included that can be redeemed for a supply of brand new socks and underwear for the children in the family. These are the simple comforts that add quality and hope to life. All through the year on every Wednesday, the CAM offers a ten dollar per 22L bag sale to help those on low incomes.

The Mission is funded by the United Way, and all financial donations over ten dollars will receive a tax receipt. If more information is required, please phone them at 474-3583 or visit their website, clothingassistance.com

Lakehead Express is committed to developing responsible, productive young adults based on skills learned through competitive soccer.  While developing their soccer skills our players are encouraged to be involved in and give back to their community. Deadline for Rep teams is December 17 by Noon. The team with the most articles will win a pizza party.

Nutrition and Athletic Performance

A big thanks for James for organizing this successful event and to Dr. Heather Robertson for her very informative and engaging talk.  It was a great evening of information sharing and questions.

My Chance Program

The My Chance Program was founded by Miah Crowley in the fall of 2015. Miah wanted to give back to her community and raise money for kids who could not afford to play soccer. To date, she has raised $540 selling chocolates and enabled children to play soccer at Lex.

The Board of Directors at Lex would like to thank you for your inspirational program.  Best of luck!

Lakehead Express Bursary Award Winners 2016

Congratulations to Meagan Clarke and Tiana Bedford, this years recipients of our  soccer bursary. It is a Lex annual tradition that  two graduating players are granted a bursary towards their continuing education.  Players must submit an application and transcripts and are evaluated based on a series of criteria. The selection committee looks for the players contribution to the club over time, their sportsmanship, athleticism and scholastic success. We are very proud of this year's winners.  Congrats!
