Our Mission

Skills for Life on and off the Field!

The Lakehead Express S.C. has a long standing tradition of preparing and developing players for the Collegiate level and beyond. Over the past years, our Club has has helped many student-athletes receive University and College scholarships as we have provided them with a platform to showcase their talents in the hopes of playing soccer at the collegiate level, whether in the US or Canada.

Our Club's objective is to develop our young players with not only the physical skills, but also the drive needed to succeed, both on the soccer field, and in life as they reach adulthood. We strive for achievement and excellence, with an emphasis on personal development for the student-athlete.

Lakehead Express Bursary Award Winners 2016

Congratulations to Meagan Clarke and Tiana Bedford, this years recipients of our  soccer bursary. It is a Lex annual tradition that  two graduating players are granted a bursary towards their continuing education.  Players must submit an application and transcripts and are evaluated based on a series of criteria. The selection committee looks for the players contribution to the club over time, their sportsmanship, athleticism and scholastic success. We are very proud of this year's winners.  Congrats!

Skills for life, on and off the field.

My Chance Program

The My Chance Program was founded by Miah Crowley in the fall of 2015. Miah wanted to give back to her community and raise money for kids who could not afford to play soccer. To date, she has raised $540 selling chocolates and enabled children to play soccer at Lex. Miah will be at the upcoming soccer festival, so please say hi and support this worthy cause.

The Board of Directors at Lex would like to thank you for your inspirational program.  Best of luck!

Challenger Soccer Camps Coming to Thunder Bay

To avoid the $10 Late Registration Fee!!

Lakehead Express Soccer Club is pleased to announce partnership with Challenger Sports, providers of North America’s most popular soccer camp, to host a week long British Soccer camp - July 25th - 29th at Chapples Park Soccer Field, 535 Chapples Dr, Thunderbay, ON, P7C 4P7.

Each child will be coached by a member of Challenger’s British coaching staff flown to Canada exclusively to work on these programs. This year Challenger will hold over 4,000 British Soccer Camps this summer and will coach over 150,000 players between the ages of 3 and 18, as well as completing FREE coach education clinics for over 40,000 parents and coaches.

Challenger’s British Soccer Camps are more than a week of drills and skills. In addition to taking part in a daily regimen of foot skill development (through the 1,000 touches curriculum), technical and tactical practices and daily ‘World Cup’ tournament style plays, each child will be treated to a rich cultural experience and lessons on respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship. Each camp is custom built to meet the needs of your players so Challenger will be directed by the organization on the content of the camp that they too require.

Each camper will receive a FREE camp T-shirt, soccer ball, soccer poster, individual skills performance evaluation and free access to an educational soccer website. In addition, any child who signs up online
by June 3rd will receive a genuine British Soccer replica Jersey for just the cost of shipping… valued at $39.

The 2015 Charity Alumni Game  A Big Success
Our seventh Charity Alumni game was a huge success. Thanks to all alumni players who took time out from their busy holiday season and participated.  It was great to see you all in action again on familiar turf. The game was both exciting and fun to watch, congratulations to the EDP Boys for a tough 4-2 victory.
A special thanks to our three alumni speakers (Alyssa Johnston, Kelsey Tikka and Renee Clarke) for their informative and interesting talks. Additional thanks to our sponsors, the folks at the Sports Dome and Carmen at C&D Sports for making this night possible.

Bubble soccer at half time proved to be a blast!
Finally, the Executive at Lakehead Express would like to thank all that donated canned food items.  We look forward to the Alumni Game every year as it is an opportunity to re-connect with our former players and their families and to give back to the community that we all live in.
Have a great Christmas and a healthy New Year.

Clothing Assistance Undercover Project a Huge Succes

Lakehead Express Soccer Club is once again supporting the Clothing Assistance Mission’s Undercover Project this Christmas with a donation of new socks and underwear! The Club’s goal this year was to collect 1500 pieces for the project and we are happy to report that the LEX Rep Teams have surpassed that goal and collected 1873 pairs of socks and underwear!

Every December, Lakehead Express Soccer Club selects a local charity to support in the community. In the past, Rep Teams were asked to collect food to be donated to the Thunder Bay Regional Food Distribution Association and to date over 2000 pounds of food has been collected to support local food banks!

The Clothing Assistance Mission provides an invaluable service to citizens in Thunder Bay, making sure that no matter the income, everyone has clothing that is affordable. The clientele that the Clothing Assistance Mission serves ranges from the homeless to those who are struggling. Many people are referred to the CAM thanks to a network of 60 partnerships that the Mission has in Thunder Bay, as well as referrals from the community. With Christmas fast approaching, one of the Clothing Assistance Mission’s projects is the Undercover Program. In the Christmas Cheer hampers that families receive, there are coupons included that can be redeemed at the CAM for a supply of brand new socks and underwear for the children in the family. These are the simple comforts that add quality and hope to life. All through the year on every Wednesday, the CAM offers a ten dollar per 22L bag sale to help those on low incomes.

The Mission is funded by the United Way, and all financial donations over ten dollars will receive a tax receipt. If more information is required, please phone them at 474-3583 or visit their website,

Lakehead Express is committed to developing responsible, productive young adults based on skills learned through competitive soccer.  While developing their soccer skills our players are encouraged to be involved in and give back to their community
